Bunski loves colour

At Bunski, we just love colour! There is so much beauty in the world and although black and white looks pretty cool, there is nothing better to overload the senses than a splash of colour. Our designers are always using colour to bring out the best in our artwork and t-shirt designs. Most of our…

We have the ultimate fortune of access to hundreds of records from the 20s to the 90s courtesy of Bunski’s family heritage. Distressed by the sight of them in boxes and out of order, we trawled through alphabetizing them, mesmerized by the fading art-form of creating album covers. Back in the day, this was an essential part of the production and release of an album.

We would be so sad to see this wonderful expression of art disappear into the ether. While vinyl is still being produced, and CDs have covers, there’s something utterly breathtaking about the size of the art on a record cover and the opportunity present in the centre, the sleeve or the vinyl itself for more artistic expression.

There’s not much else to say really, just step into the world of these musicians and their creations. This is Part 1 of a few of our faves. With the love of music, Bunski xx

Chiang Mai dreaming: Bunski style

Lounging on a St Kilda Rooftop, nursing a beer reflecting on Bunski's recent trip to Thailand. Oh vibrant, warm Thailand, oh land of smiles, intricate craftwork, spectacular markets satisfying every heart’s desire and beautiful displays of colour and devotion.

Bunski's favourite, this time, was sweet Chiang Mai. Nestled in the Old City, we wandered through the streets and laneways, tripping over stone blocks and hailing song taos to take us on our merry way. ‘Wat’s (temples) and Buddhas on every corner, it’s a far cry from Bunski’s birthplace where it’s more likely a pub on every corner. But, there’s that too.... Chiang Mai has everything, and more! Spiritual workshops of every kind, handicrafts from the Hill Tribes, a market every evening and every day with the super walking street market on Sunday eve.

We dream of this kind of action, bursting at the seams with creativity, a colourful soup of food stalls, junk and incredible treasures - all "for cheap"! If only we could make it through the whole way. Til next time, Chiang Mai - Bunski loves you!

Here’s a little taste of the treasures we experienced along the way.

Bunski Rocks Soundgarden

Bunski loves to rock and when we scored VIP seats for Soundgarden at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, we literally jumped out of our T’s!! Soundgarden, our 90’s lover that we keep going back to time and time again, our ears wide open and our hands all over!

Who can deny the incredible prowess of Chris Cornell’s voice, the supreme majesty of Kim Thayil’s guitar, the moody brilliance of Ben Shepherd’s bass tied together by the brilliant classy beats of drummer Matt Cameron. The whole show was a feast of magic and Loud Love and we’re feeling inspired! Here’s some pics from the show:

Inspiration from the Ocean

Here at Bunski, we totally dig colour, movement and contrast and we are feeling spectacularly captivated by these divinely beautiful under the sea images of jellyfish by Russian underwater photographer Alexander Semenov. Brought to our attention by the folks at Lost at E Minor (if you don’t subscribe to their newsletter, you’re missing out large!),…
